Christmas it is a time of irony and conflict.   Many people find this the happiest and best time of year.  Bright lights, decorated houses, decorated trees that we all like to see---but, at the same time this is also one of the saddest times of the year!  There is more depression and suicides during Christmas than any other time of year.

I do not want to make light of what happens to people at this time of year---but, I am convinced one reason is when man's flesh's desires and concepts of what makes you happy cannot be fulfilled it leads to being sad and depressed.  Madison Avenue spends millions of dollars to bombard our five senses that if we have this and that product we will find happiness and have a real Christmas.  But, what happens when we can buy very little of that stuff or even worse we cannot afford to by anything!  We feel depressed.  

Again, I fully realize that clinical depression is not so simply explained and should not be minimized.  But, if you and I could grasp that for the person who has been "born again"----saved and walks in relationship with the Christ--we understand that in that relationship we have our being and joy!

I would like to challenge the Body of Christ who read my articles.  Take inventory of all you spent for the holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years for 2007.  Add 10% for inflation.  Seek the Lord and you and your family make the decision that for Christmas 2008 (if Jesus has not returned)  we are going to fast these holidays and give the money to the Kingdom for ministry!  Live your life fueled by the joy of the Christ who is not in a manager but living inside of you in the person of the Holy Spirit!  Find your joy in serving the King!

Crazy you say--I think if the Church could do this very simple thing there would be the potential for millions of dollars for Kingdom Business!  Pray about it!  We live now to serve Christ and reveal Him to a lost and dying World where they can see Him in our lives and how we live before them everyday.
